I’ve applied for a Government Grant, what’s next?

Do you want to save thousands on your heating bills whilst also saving the planet? Do you want to get your heating funded by a Grant from the Government? Would you like to increase the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of your property? Then keep reading because you could be entitled to a Government Grant without even knowing about it.

What is Eco Government Funding?

The ECO Scheme (Energy Company Obligation) is a scheme where people can access funding grants. These grants can help reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills.

This scheme began in April 2013 as a way for the Government to tackle fuel poverty by making people’s properties more energy efficient.

If you’re wondering how fuel poverty and the efficiency of a property are related, it has everything to do with the amount a household spends to heat their property. If anyone spends more than 20% of their household income to heat their property, they’re considered to be in severe fuel poverty. Even if a household is required to spend 10% or more of it’s total income on heating their property, they’re still considered to be in fuel poverty.

So what can be done to stop this?

If a property is more energy efficient, it will cost less to heat the property. Even though most people hesitate on making sure their house is properly heated and insulated, the insulation will virtually pay for itself in no time. For example, over a quarter of heat is lost thorough the roof of a property, so installing loft insulation is an effective way to prevent the heat from escaping.

Not only will insulation save you thousands on your heating bills overtime, it can also be installed for free through a Government Grant.

What’s the process of applying for a Government Grant?

After you’ve made an enquiry on our website, we will advise you on the measures we can install for you and advise you on how you can personally utilise Government Grants, to either cover the costs or get a partial contribution paid by the Government.

Once we get the details necessary, such as your name, phone number, house number and postcode, we will work out your building’s EPC (Energy Performance Certificate). This gives a rating between A-G of where you are at now and where you could potentially be after the appropriate energy saving measures have been installed. Our goal is to make sure your property is as energy efficient as possible! We are saving you money on bills each month as well as benefiting the environment.

After that, the next step is to book a date of install for the surveyors to view the property. The survey will take up to 2 hours to complete. It will involve collecting customer details for the application, property details, checking the meter and taking room measure for their unique heat design calculating. Then, photographic evidence will need to be taken of the above and a date for installation will be arranged.

After your property has been surveyed, the installation will be carried out by one of our qualified engineers or installers. They are all gas safe and NIC/ EID registered.
