Did you know that Internal Wall Insulation could save you between £90 – £270 a year ?

What is Internal Wall Insulation?

Internal Wall Insulation comes with a 25 year warranty and can save the homeowner/ tenant up to 35% on their heating bills. Here at RMS Energy Solutions Ltd, we only use the best products installed by our highly skilled and fully qualified installers. All off our work is insured and we hold all of the accreditations necessary to carry out these installs to the highest standard.

IWI is where board and a coat of plaster is applied to the inside of a building. It is used to insulate solid wall properties and it creates a thermal barrier between the inside of your home and the temperature of the outside of your property. It is normally a cheaper alternative to external wall insulation and is ideal for properties where outside insulation is not suitable – such as sandstone buildings. The installation can also be done room by room.

What are the benefits of upgrading your Internal Wall insulation?

  • Unlike External Wall Insulation, Internal Wall Insulation does not impact the outside of your property. It’s also easier to install as no scaffolding is needed.
  • When your walls are being insulated, the work can be done room by room which will minimise any disruptions.
  • If you have rooms that aren’t occupied, you can shut their doors and only heat or cool the rooms being used. This is more efficient than trying to artificially heat or cool the entire home.
  • A house that has been insulated well is one way to tackle fuel poverty.
Insulation is generally low maintenance and can last a lifetime.

The process of upgrading your Internal Wall Insulation

  • Internal wall insulation works by a layer of insulation to the inside of walls. This type of insulation will typically slightly reduce the floor area of any room it is applied in.
  • Before the IWI gets installed, all the fittings and fixtures must be removed from the walls (such as radiators, light fittings, radiators, switches and skirting boards). They will be replaced on the new wall. Areas around windows must be insulated at the same time as the walls, to prevent condensation.
  • Wooden panels are applied to the walls and the insulation material is filled on the insides of them. Then plasterboard is fitted to these wooden panels and render is applied over them.
  • The joints are then sealed and the finishing work is completed (such as skimming plasterboards). The fittings and fixtures that were removed at the start are then replaced.
