Grants are non-repayable – this means you do not have to pay any money back at any time. There are no complicated terms and conditions. If you qualify, the amount of funding you get is determined by the efficiency of your home. An energy assessment will be carried out beforehand free of charge. In some instances a small contribution may be required toward the cost of an installation.
What’s the process of getting my Storage Heater Upgrade?
Initially, you make an enquiry on our website under the web address of rmsenergy.co.uk, or contact RMS Energy Solutions Ltd. on 0800 77977224 and we will advise you on the measures we can install for you, and advise you on how you can personally utilise government grants, to either cover the costs or get a partial contribution paid by the government.
Once we get the details necessary, such as your name, phone number, house number and postcode; we will work out your building’s EPC (Energy Performance Certificate). This gives a rating between A-G of where you are now and where you could be after the measures have been installed. Our goal is to make your property as energy efficient as possible! Saving you money on bills monthly as well as benefitting the environment.
The next step is to book a date for the surveyor to view the property. The survey will take up to 2 hours to complete. It will involve collecting customer details for the application, property details, checking the meter, collect evidence to prove that the property is occupied and room measurements for their unique heat design calculation. Photo evidence will be taken of the above. A date for installation will then be arranged.
The installation will be carried out by one of our qualified engineers, gas safe and NIC/EID registered. After the install, each tenant will receive a copy of the electrical installation certificate. You will also receive a Dimplex Quantum 10 year manufacture warranty.
How is my Smart Storage Heater Installed?
- After the new heaters have been running for up to 7 days, the heater will automatically adjust to the volume and heat demand of the room. This is to ensure maximum efficiency from the Smart Storage Heater.
- A full heat design calculation is carried out before your new heating system is installed.
- The heaters are then sized specifically to each room.
- The off-peak tariff is in place before your heater gets installed.
And now for the nerdy stuff…

Radiators transfer energy using convection, heating the air above and around the radiator at a much higher temperature, causing the warm air to rise. This results in the floor being the coolest place in the room, with the mass of warm air at ceiling level. Solid floors are insulated using rigid insulation foam, which can be fitted either above or below the concrete. Supposing that the concrete is above the insulation it can sometimes store heat during the day, which helps keep the room warm at night. If the insulation is above the concrete the room will heat up more quickly in the morning.
Granted that you have timber floorboards in your property generally there is a void beneath your floor area. Our engineers can make an access hatch to insulate your timber floor area from below. This can typically save you up to 15% on your heating bills. This makes your home more comfortable and energy efficient and reduces your heating bills at the same time.
